Opened in 2013, Ballyharvey Grooming & Nursing is located in a generous 1350m² facility at Muckamore, in the countryside on the outskirts of Antrim town. This allows for easy access to Belfast and all major routes throughout Northern Ireland and close proximity to Belfast International Airport.
The modern and spacious facilities at Ballyharvey were developed by the veterinary surgeons Brian McAuley, Cahir McAuley and John Lavery of Firmount Veterinary Clinic who have an outstanding reputation in animal health & welfare.
Offering state of the art pet boarding and nursing the facility is run by an experienced animal care team that is passionate about the wellbeing of their guests and patients.
The team onsite is headed by Manager David Griffin (City & Guilds Level 3 Dog Grooming Stylist) and his Assistant Manager, Sarah Steele who both have great experience with almost any type of small animal (dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, etc.) and who will ensure your pet receives the best care, exercise, and attention during their stay. The team is further supported by our veterinary surgeon who lives on-site and is therefore available 24/7 if required.
Dogs: The modern facility is spacious and features 50 kennels, all with underfloor heating for colder weather and an individual run for each dog. We offer kennels for one or several dogs at the time. Our team will walk your dog daily on the large grounds of the facility to ensure it gets the exercise it requires.
Cats: Our cattery is comprised of 32 centrally heated, spacious and comfortable cages. We also provide larger cattery areas if you have more than one cat staying over with us. All cats are looked after and played with during their stay and personal beds, blankets and toys are welcome to make your feline friend feel more at home.
Exotic Room: We cater for rabbits, guinea pigs and other exotic species on a regular basis – please provide their housing during their stay.
All our facilities, kennels and cattery are large, clean and DARD inspected annually exceeding the current standards.

Premium pet boarding and nursing for your companion include:
At Ballyharvey we cater for two types of pets: Those animals who require a comfortable, safe and pleasant environment while you are away or when a pet owner is unwell and also pets that require extra care such as animals with diabetes, geriatrics, post operation care, etc. (any non-infectious condition).
Our veterinary surgeon onsite and our veterinary support staff are available and will address all specific medical requirements to promote the recovery / improve the condition of your pet.
The team at Ballyharvey thoroughly enjoys working with animals so you can rest assured that your pet will have a good time and experience the duration of their stay as positive. After an initial telephone conversation we will arrange to meet you and your pet on site, show you around and spend time with you to record all your requirements.
We make time to discuss your animal’s diet, special routines you wish to be implemented, health aspects, etc. The better we know your pet the more pleasant the kennel experience will be, so this is a crucial aspect of our work on which we place great emphasis.
At Ballyharvey we can provide food (Royal Canin). However, unless indicated for health reasons, we recommend you provide your pet’s usual food, as the same diet, favourite blankets, beds, toys etc., helps to make your animal’s stay with us a bit closer to home.
Grooming, washing and veterinary procedures such as neutering, dental
cleaning etc. can be arranged during the stay.
Please note that all dog and cats must have up to date vaccinations and all dogs must be kennel cough vaccinated before entry.
We hope this gives an overview of Ballyharvey and look forward to talking to you in more detail about your particular needs. We are confident that will feel comfortable that when your pet comes to stay at Ballyharvey you are leaving your friend at a premium Nursing & Boarding Kennel in the very best hands of a team of animal lovers and veterinary specialists.
